This year’s annual fundraiser took place on November 14th at Broomhall, home of our patron Lady Elgin. The guest speaker was Councillor Frances Melville, Provost of Fife and the evening’s entertainment was provided by The Sangsters, Robin Cairns and Saor Patrol. (We are particularly grateful to Saor Patrol for stepping in as last minute replacements with tremendous enthusiasm!)
The Silent Auction along with generous donations from our guests resulted in £4,500 being raised towards the work of the charity. Lady Elgin was delighted with the success of the evening: “It was a wonderful night with first class entertainment enjoyed by all the guests. It is always a pleasure to host this event and I am already looking forward to next year’s fundraiser. The money raised will help make a real difference to needy families in Fife, and I continue to wish the Charity every success.”
Investors in People
We were reviewed in November for our I.I.P status and were delighted to receive a glowing report commending the organisation on its standards.
CRNS
Furniture Plus is delighted to have been nominated for the CRNS member of the year award for 2008. One of four social enterprises short-listed for this award, we are keeping our fingers crossed for success at the annual conference in March. This nomination reflects the tireless work of our drivers and volunteers in diverting hundreds of tonnes of re-usable furniture from landfill
National Award winners!

Ian Browse and Pat Callaghan collect their award
October saw Furniture Plus picking up a national award at the Eventful Scotland awards for Waste Management. At a gala dinner in Glasgow, Furniture Plus were confirmed as Best Community Waste Initiative in Scotland – a tremendous accolade in recognition of the work done in diverting furniture from landfill. The award was collected on behalf of all the drivers and volunteers who work so hard to keep Furniture Plus at the forefront of reuse and recycling organisations in Scotland.
New Warehouse
Furniture Plus is expanding into West Fife and has secured a new warehouse/retail facility on the Belleknowes Industrial Estate near Inverkeithing. We are grateful to Muir Homes, our new landlords, for their support in leasing this 20,000 sq ft facility to further develop the work of the organisation. The warehouse is currently being renovated and will hopefully be open to the public before the end of April 2008.
